Greetings,
I have a sudden craving for spander fics that have a particular element in them, ones where Xander takes care of Spike after the First makes hims go crazy, or after he gets his soul. I read one where Xander rescues/forces Spike out of the School basement while he kinda insane and takes care of him. So I was wondering if anyone knew of other fics that have this element ^_^

One of the great pleasures that fanfic gives us more of is the meeting of characters who, in canon, may not even know of each other's existence. In this vignette, the Viscount St George finally learns his lesson about climbing over the walls of Women's Colleges, when a night time escapade results in a memorable encounter with Hilary Thorpe. The conversation between the two is a delight, and as a bonus it's peppered with wonderful little insights into the trials and tribulations of being Peter's nephew.
The coast seemed clear enough, so St. George ambled back into range of the streetlamp and switched on his most charming smile-- which, he was reliably informed, was very charming indeed. 'Seeing as I've been trapped here by pure unfortunate accident--'
The girl nodded tolerantly. 'Naturally.'

This is an Avengers story set in the present day (well, probably a few years ago now, but this decade at least), and it works, and that's a huge achievement by itself, because The Avengers lived by ridiculous '60s' illogic that simply doesn't translate. However, here Caroline Miniscule manages to imagine plausible futures for everyone, and she gets the tone exactly right: the villains are quite odd, just as all Avengers villains should be, and the plot has the feel of an episode but is just enough darker to be believable in our time. All of the Avengers are very much in character, and if this is indeed their last adventure, it is a wonderful way to go out.

This is a nicely put together tale that rolls right along and holds your interest until the very last word. She captures Curry's "voice" particularly well, I feel. There's plenty of angst in this story, good conversation and a happy ending. And that is a good deal.

I'm searching for a fic I read more then a year ago and want to re-read and bookmark. The following is what I remember about it:
~Was Fraser/RayK
~Set Post-CoTW
~They were both in Canada after the big adventure.
~They were together
~Apparently Fraser liked the town they were in and was either thinking of being stationed there or already informed this was his new post.
~They were house hunting, I remember that for some reason RayK though Fraser was getting a house for himself and that once decided it was time to Ray to head back to the US cause Fraser hand not actually asked Ray explicitly to stay and live with him, but they worked it out.
~Also it was noted pointed out to Ray that all the houses were on stilt-type things and pipes went between houses above ground to keep things from freezing and from melting? or messing up the frozen ground layers.

So, I have spent pretty much the last six months reading nothing but Stargate Atlantis fiction due to the fact that, well, there is a lot more of it than good old Love fic and after reading all of the fics that intersted me on WMTDB I had to find something else to read. Anyway, I have been reading what little Love is being written (Not criticizing, but there are a lot less writers that update regularly here than there) and I have recently been craving a good Love fic. I am looking specifically for one, I don't remember the title or the author, but it involved the boys going to Nick's family's ranch, possibly for Christmas(?), and Nick has a lesbian sister. If you know what I am talking about could you please let me know where to find it.

ETA: I remembered it!! Xander's dad sells him to some demons and he's sort of giving off 'come get me vibes' to demons. He and Spike get it on and bond/claim but the demons still want Xander. In the end his Dad ends up going in his place. |

Why this vid kicks ass: I kicked off meta week with songvids about songvids, and so now it seems appropriate to rec a project that takes this idea of vidmeta to its logical conclusion -- documentaries about vidding, made by vidders.
Not long ago, the Organization for Transformative Works interviewed a whole heap of vidders about vidding, sampled their work, and created a series of snapshots that showcase their art and philosophy. What a neat idea! I love the voices of fans talking about their passion -- it's so rare to get a chance hear fans' real voices -- and I also love that this series has been made by vidders, using the skills they acquired through vidding, and that it's unashamedly pro-fanworks. I fell in love with vids all over again when I watched this.

Why this is worth reading: I have never read an akablonded story I didn't like, so this no different. There is a stranger in it, that I can't say who, but it's worth reading just to find out who it is. She did the artwork for the cover and the end, and they are totally wonderful. I know this is vague, but I hate when people give too much away in their descriptions. It's short, read it and find out for yourself. You'll like it. :) |

Why this is worth reading: If you enjoy a good AU, something that is totally different than you're used to reading, then you'll enjoy this story. I have to say, it's better if you read the Liegeman first. It's link is on the page of Companion. I don't want to give the story away, so I don't wish to say too much. If you enjoy Legion's writing, you will enjoy this. |

Why this vid kicks ass: First, I'm sorry that this is so early; I'm going to be without computer access for the next week and half so I'm posting this now. Second, I know that this is technically breaking the rules but I'm going to rec two vids, because honestly the vids are the best part of this fandom.
'Ragged Ass Road' was my introduction to Prison Break, and it took my breath away without ever having seen the show. The shots are beautifully put together to show what the entire prison experience was for Michael: a labor of love for his brother. The vid captures the emotional intensity of the show at its best, and is an excellent introduction for newbies.
I didn't actually start watching the show until I saw SDWolfpup's 'Like a Stone.' 'Ragged Ass Road' was beautiful but it also felt complete, like I'd seen the best parts of the show so I didn't actually have to sit through the season. 'Like a Stone' introduced me to Mahone, and I liked him so much that I had to see more of him The vid is smoking hot and very, very slashy.
